Construction fence still up but everything looks done …

Interestingly they just added what is a Level 2 Tesla Destination Dual Charging station just next to these Superchargers, however the L2 has a J1772 connector. I haven’t seen a Tesla Destination Charger with a J1772 connector before. It’s currently behind a construction fence, so I could not physically check it, but that’s how it looks from 2 meters away. It doesn’t appear to look like a Tesla connector, unless Tesla has modified its handles.

Here’s a thread on TeslaMotorsClub discussing the J1772 HPWCs: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/tesla-wall-connector-with-j1772-plug-instead-of-tesla-proprietary-plug.167595/

April 9, 2021 @ 4 PM - Construction fence is down. Tested some of the Superchargers and the J1772 chargers, but no juice yet. Should be activated soon!

April 24, 2021 - Still no juice

I don’t know why it’s taking so long to activate. If I had to guess: knowing North Van, it’s probably due to the City of North Vancouver taking their sweet time to certify the install.
Kind of ridiculous that it’s taking this long tbh… Surrey and Abbotsford got theirs going in a week.

It seems that the latest installs in 2021 are taking much longer to activate than usual. Coquitlam has the same delay as North Van. Princeton took about 3 months to activate. Golden has been waiting for 6 months. And West Kelowna took about 3-4 months! Construction takes just 2 weeks only! Surrey and Abbotsford were pre-pandemic so you can’t compare. All in all, this seems to be more of a BC Hydro thing as Golden, North Van and Coquitlam are all waiting for meters to be installed. But yes … it’s still annoying.

Didn’t think of it that way, but yea… you’re right

May 12, 2021 - Still No Juice. Even worse … crew was there digging something up, I guess the inspector didn’t like something. More delays !!

May 14, 2021 - Crew is gone, repair job looks to be done … but still no meter and no juice. So we wait a little longer.

i think this is a very unusual case - usually it doesn’t take this long… does it? do you happen to know what the crew worked on?

Unfortunately I’m not sure what they worked on, but it was minor as they were in and out in less than 2 days. It’s usual in construction to have picky inspectors. I was in Coquitlam yesterday and their chargers are also waiting to be juiced up. Two totally different municipalities, North Van started about 2-3 weeks earlier but both were “finished” about a week apart and they both have yet to be switched on. Both West Kelowna and Princeton also took 3-4 months to be turned on, so we’re about in that exact same ball park. It’ll be interesting to see when Cache Creek and Williams Lake will be turned on as they’re both pretty much done their construction phase. Tesla is proving to the world that they can build anything, anywhere and fast, but conventional people and industries, like Municipal bureaucracy and utilities, take way more time than Tesla’s people! It’s truly amazing what Tesla in all its aspects is able to do, truly amazing. I wish everything was done like in Tesla-world. Still the North Van and Coquitlam Superchargers are likely to be up in the next 2 weeks I suspect, by or around June 1st.
