Charjo - MI/IL New Supercharger sites

Hey all,

My company is developing our first 6 Supercharger locations across the Midwest US with more coming soon. We have sites secured and are entering permitting, with construction slated to start Q4 2026/Q1 2027.

I used to work for the Supercharger team at Tesla, building our own sites now.

Excellent we will add them to the map. Good luck with your new venture.

Glad to hear this - BUT

Why put chargers in these metro areas that already have superchargers?

We need chargers in the “charger desert” of north Michigan.

There’s no NACS supercharger that can do over 150kw between Flint and Mackinaw. The ones that are available are V2 and frequently limited to 75kw due to overcrowding.

Feel free to notify your CEO/COO. There’s a huge market for this for large profits for any charging company.

Welcome to the community!

“Large profits” are highly dependent on the commercial electric rates for the chosen location. As we’ve seen with other recent Supercharger for Business sites, some site owners are struggling with the high cost of demand charges. I suspect that a highly traveled metro area would yield better financial results than a rural route that might have bigger seasonal traffic variations.

This is great to see! I think dispersed metro charging locations will significantly help with EV adoption. Several of the Superchargers in this area are V2 and don’t support non-Tesla EVs.
